Canfield, OH is a small-town charmer

Canfield,OH is a small suburb in Mahoning County about ten miles south of Youngstown. It is a beautiful city with a small town charm. The city’s main architectural style is Classic Revival.

The Canfield Fair,which was established in 1846,is Ohio’s largest county fair and attracts visitors from all over the state. It is held every year in late August and early September for six days.

1. Kennsington Grille

Kennsington Grille offers a lounge-style atmosphere that serves upscale soups and sandwiches. The restaurant also has special dinners,such as grilled Atlantic Cod served with homemade Haluski on the Fridays or prime rib on the Saturdays. The restaurant can seat up to 90 guests and there is room for 70 more on the terrace. It is also a great location for rehearsal dinners,anniversary celebrations and corporate lunches or dinners.

2. Canfield Fairgrounds

Canfield Fairgrounds,a 353 acre piece of land,hosts the Canfield Fair for a week every summer. It is the largest county fair in Ohio and features a variety of events,including dog shows,5k runs,and hayrides. There are also many hotels and restaurants on the fairgrounds. The White House Fruit Farm is located there,and is famous for its blueberry donuts and family-friendly events.

At the fair last month,a 4-H member donated money from the sale of his market hog to help fund the new junior fair building. Campbell reports that the fair board has already raised $2.1million of the $3million it needs to finish phase one of event center.

He says the fairboard is committed to bringing this event center into reality. They’ve already made significant improvements,such as upgrading the sanitary systems and building roofs. The building’s front will be expanded to include meeting rooms and restrooms.

3. Canfield Country Club

Not far from Canfield,Tippecanoe Country Club offers terrific views and challenging play for golfers at every skill level. Designed by Donald Ross,the Tippecanoe Country Club golf course opened in 1920.

4. Canfield Golf Course
